Profile, Mission and History

Welcome to Mileston Middle School, home of the mighty Bearcats! I am honored to serve as principal of the students in this community.

The mission statement of Mileston Middle School is to provide appropriate instructions and learning experiences to ensure the development of the whole child as a lifetime learner.

Our school consists of kindergarten through 6th grades. We are a small, intimate school, consisting of one class per grade. Our school enrollment is 108 students. We are located in the Mileston Community 17 miles north of Yazoo City, on the corner of Highways 49 and 12. Mileston has a rich history which dates back to the late 1930's. The school started as an elementary school, gradually added high school grades, but became an elementary school once again when the newly-constructed Tchula Attendance Center for Negroes (later re-named S. V. Marshall High School) opened its doors in 1961. Click here for a detailed history of Mileston Middle School.
